Reading in Lockdown: So Many Books

It's almost the end of another month in lockdown and almost time for me to write another montly reading wrap up post, and I know that this months one is going to take a while to put together.

Although for the past week I've been in a bit of a reading slump, this month in general I read a lot.

I took part in the Bout of Books readathon which boosted my numbers hugely, but even before that, I was on a reading kick.

I've actually been on a reading kick since February, which you'll see if you look at my previous reading wrap ups for this year.

Ever since lockdown began, though, I've found myself drawn to books a lot more. Reading, often, multiple books a day.

Then, I was reading something online the other day, about how book sales have increased since the pandemic hit, and it went on to explain how reading has huge benefits on peoples stress levels. So, not only does reading give you something to do in the long hours at home, but it may actually help you handle stress and anxiety as well and I see that as a huge win.

Already this year, I've hit my yearly Goodreads reading goal of 155 books, which is insane and I have been finding that I've enjoyed distracting myself from what's happening by diving into a book.

I'm finding that other methods of taking my mind of off things, haven't worked so well. I go on Youtube and most of the people I follow are doing some kind of quarentine content, or the ads are revolving around the pandemic. It's everywhere. But, when I curl up in bed with a good book, a cup of coffee and the window pushed open for some fresh air. I feel calm and happier than during any other activity.

Like I said, though, I have been in a bit of a slump for a few days now. I did manage to finish one more book, but mostly I've been reading a couple pages and getting distracted or bored. I'm hoping it won't last too long and I'll be back to flipping the pages again soon.

Have you been reading more since the pandemic started? Let me know, and if you liked this post, please consider subscribing for more bookish content and sharing with your book loving friends.
