So, I'm in self-isolation.
Just like many others around the globe, I've made the choice to self-isolate for my own safety (I have a few different health conditions) and the safety of others.
Now, to put this into some context. My day to day life doesn't include going out much. Due to my chronic health condition, I'm unable to work and I can't even leave the house alone. A lot of the time I'm too unwell to even get out of bed due to exterme symptoms and frequent fainting spells. So, extended time inside my home isn't that big of a deal to me.
I'm also an introvert who's quite happy to sit in my room with some good music and a book for hours at a time.
What I will say, is that while I am introverted and while I am confined to the house a lot, even before Covid-19 came along. I also love to go outside.
Whenever I'm well enough, my sister and I try to go for a walk down the beach, or to our local village to go to the charity shops. I like to go out for coffee or lunch and in the past year I've gotten into Geocaching.
But now I'm on at least a twelve week lockdown, and to add onto it, my sleep schedule has been improving and instead of waking up at 11 each morning. I'm getting between 8.30-9, and I tend to go to sleep at around 2 a.m. Which is giving me a lot of extra time.
I'm awake longer and even on good days. I can't go out.
I have all this time to fill and as a book lover, I figured the perfect way to occupy myself, would be to read.
After my huge book reading spree in February, I thought I wouldn't get more than two books done this month, but with some extra time on my hands. I'm not so worried anymore.
However, I didn't want to just be grabbing any random book off my shelves. Although, I will be reading some of my owned books.
I decided that now would be the perfect time to start working my way through some of my Netgalley books that have started building up on my shelf.
I have this bad habit with Netgalley of going through phases of requesting books. I read widely, so I check a lot of categories and request a huge amount, because I figure, some will turn me down and some will take a while to give me a decision. So, logically I shouldn't end up with too many books and struggle to read and review them all.
Of course, it never really works like that and I always end up with a huge stack of books waiting for feedback, and yet despite knowing this. I'll be back to requesting books in a matter of weeks. Because, what if there's something amazing and I miss out on it!
At the beginning of March, I had 17 books waiting for feedback on my shelf, and while not all of them are being released this month. I do want to start working my way through my list, so that I can start requesting again, without adding to my too many books problem.
I'll check back in at the end of the month in my reading wrap up, and put all of my Netgalley books into a seperate category to see how many I've read.
Stay safe,
Hannah
